Magnetic Moulding

Unbounded moulding material featured in the magnetic moulding process is a ferromagnetic granular material (steel shot, steel sawdust) held in a required shape by a strong magnetic field. After the casting is poured and solidified, the magnetic field is switched off, allowing the mould to disintegrate and the casting to be removed. This concept of moulding was invented in 1971, but never seems to have come into general use.
